Computers & Programs

I do most of my work on my old faithful Dell. The Dell is a good computer but is about 5 years old now. To render in apo it's taking anywhere from 24 to 72 hrs a shot, and thats just too long for me. I have upgraded it to it's max and now I think I just need to get a new one.  Well actually I am going to have one build because I don't want Vista any where near me.

So far I know I want at least 3 gig of ram and a duel core prossesor. My husband sugested a math co-processor. And Honestly I know nothing about hardware. So I need some advice. I work mainly with Apo and do some work with UF. Anyone have any sugestions on what I should put in my new computer?

I also need advice with software. Basicly PSP vs Photoshop. Which is better? Which is easier to work with? Whats good for a beginer?

Weekend plans

More house hunting. I hope to find something I like soon.
